Orca Capabilities

Know what Orca can do, what context Orca can see, how to call Orca, and how to steer or stop work.

Use Orca when a task benefits from reading workspace context and producing a workspace-visible answer or artifact.

What Orca Can Do

Orca can:

  • Read recent channel or DM context and search older workspace messages.
  • Send replies in the conversation where it was called.
  • Find, read, write, revise, rename, restore, and verify wiki pages.
  • Inspect Shared files and supported visible attachments.
  • Extract text from shared or attached PDFs, DOCX documents, XLSX spreadsheets, CSV files, and TSV files.
  • Summarize file evidence and connect it to wiki pages or messages.
  • Rename shared files and promote visible message attachments into Shared files when asked.
  • Create and update long-running Jobs.
  • Remember stable workspace preferences and workflows.

Visibility Boundaries

Orca works inside the current workspace. It can see Shared files and visible conversation attachments provided in task context. It cannot see personal My files. It should not claim it verified current workspace state unless it actually used a relevant tool in that turn.

Calling Orca

Use Direct messages to Orca for private work. Use @Orca in a channel for shared work, and make sure Orca is a member of that channel.

Give concrete links whenever possible: [[Page Title]], [[/path/file.pdf]], and #channel-name.

Steering And Stopping

Send another message to change direction. Use the progress-row interrupt control to stop explicitly. Workspace admins can inspect and cancel Jobs from Manage Workspace.
